Tulips

Amsterdam’s beautiful colours… The beauty of having time on your hands and playing with your apps on the iPad! The result = black and white photography and shiny red flowers.. Happy Saturday afternoon!

The Hall

The Hall

So I visited Amsterdam for the first time in 2010… Now I come again for 3 full days during the week. The intention is more of culture than party..So week days would be best to avoid any partying temptations!! Once you arrive to Amsterdam Central Station and walk out, I could not help but smile. The city has a very nice atmosphere beyond my capability to describe…
I walked across all the canals until i made it eventually to my hotel which is near the Rijks museum.. Checked in, picked my camera and headed straight to the museum. Last time i was here I went to Van Gogh.. This time I just wanted to see the Rijks… I am not an art connoiseur, but I always enjoy walking around trying to understand the evolution of art… The museum covers the era of 1600, 1700, 1900 and has a special collection as well of porcelain..
The museum layout is bottom up. So the collection starts the oldest on first floor and then as you move up it gets modern. That was a bit annoying for me as I like to start from top and walk down then leave… Anyway, That is what i did. And what a great journey it was… The lower floors i got to the more art became richer, detailed and thorough! It is definitely a must visit if you ever make it to Amsterdam.
I attached few photos not to show you what the museum is about, but to share the difference in art pieces available there..

Coffee Cup

Coffee Cup

From the Archives … Utrecht, Netherlands 2011, a lovely warm cup of coffee in a cafe by the canal side..

When I was a in my early 20s, just out of university life, my definition of fun and socializing was different. To me, having coffee alone at home was not an option. Going out alone with a book and have a bite or just a cup of coffee, enjoy reading and people watching was also not an option. Looking at people who were alone with their books or just alone on tables in coffee shops always triggered the “Ahhh” feeling…

I was totally oblivious to “Quality Me Time”. Now a days, if I don’t spend time alone, I feel that I can not recharge and be ready to face the world again.. It’s like my own recycling practice or my own desktop cleaning process.

I was with friends the other day and the subject was discussed, and they still believe that people who sit alone in coffee shops trigger a feeling of sympathy.

If I don’t know how to enjoy life on my own, I can never enjoy life with others… is my own belief.

What do you think?
